Therapeutic characteristics
The plastic IUD with copper functions as a hormone free contraceptive exerting a local effect in the uterine. It may be used as an emergency contraceptive when inserted within 5 days after unprotected intercourse (Turok).
Metabolism and pharmacokinetics
The IUD with copper does not contain any active drug, and therefore has no effect on human drug metabolism.
