Rationale
Substrate for CYP 2C9. No clinical data pointing to CYP-inducing effects. Did not induce ALAS1 in rat.
Chemical description
(To be edited, initial data ST OCT 04) Tabl 1200-2400 mg/d. Analgetic and antiflogistic propionic acid derivative, effective through its cyclooxygenase inhibiting effect. Hydroxylated by CYP2C9 (major enzyme) and 2C8. Inhibitor of CYP 2C9. Excreted as two metabolites. No data pointing to CYP-induction. South African list: use. French list: avoid. C.Andersson; patient reports: tolerated (n=4).
