Rationale
Porphyrinogenic in animal model. Several references consider (phenothiazines in general) to be safe. In frequent clinical use without ill effects (Sweden)
Chemical description
Antiemetic and sedative low-dose phentiazine derivative. High first passage metabolism. Probably metabolized by CYP 2D6. No data pointing to CYP-induction. Moore MR, Hift RJ: Drugs in the acute porphyrias. Cell Mol Biol 43:89, 1997: safe Martindale: Shown to be porphyrinogenic in animals. Frequently used (Sweden) during acute porphyric crises without adverse effects.
