Polycyclic glycopeptide, in greater parts not metabolised. Several references state non-porphyrinogenicity.
Chemical description
Polycyclic glycopeptide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces orientalis, used in severe multiresistent infections. Around 70-80% of the drug is excreted by the kidneys in unchanged form within 24 hours.
